To open its 2026-2027 season, Saratoga Jewish Community Arts, with a generous grant from the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York and the sponsorship of Hadassah, Congregation Beth Shalom of Clifton Park, and Temple Sinai of Saratoga Springs, presents a live streaming of the award-winning documentary, Labors of Love: The Life and Legacy of Henrietta Szold.
Henrietta Szold founded Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, in 1912. An avid student who supported Jewish immigrants and initiated English language night schools, Szold became one of the most influential American Jewish women of the 20thcentury.
Szold built Palestine’s modern healthcare system with a mandate to treat Jews and Arabs equally. She shaped education and social services in the region and led Youth Aliyah, rescuing and transporting 11,000 Jewish children from Nazi-occupied Europe to safety in Palestine in the 1930s.
The documentary, narrated by actress Tovah Feldshuh, frames Szold as a visionary Zionist, women’s rights leader, and humanitarian whose moral clarity, courage, and belief in humanity continue to resonate.
